Synopsis: New Girl. New School. Old Evil.

From the author of the Chicagoland Vampires novels.

A new series about a boarding school filled with something worse than homework.

Lily's parents have sent her to a fancy boarding school in Chicago filled with the ultra-rich. If that wasn't bad enough, she's hearing and seeing bizarre things on St. Sophie's creepy campus. Her roommate, Scout, keeps her sane, but keeps disappearing at night. When one day Lily finds Scout running from real-life monsters, she learns the hard way that Scout is involved in a splinter group of rebel teens.

They protect Chicago from demons, vamps, and dark magic users. It's too bad Lily doesn't
have powers of her own to help. At least, none that she's discovered yet...

Review: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

Title: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
Author: Jennifer E. Smith
Publisher: Poppy/Little Brown
Publication Date: January 2, 2012

Synopsis: Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. She's stuck at JFK, late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon to be step-mother that Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's in seat 18C. Hadley's in 18A.

Twists of fate and quirks of timing play out in this thoughtful novel about family connections, second chances and first loves. Set over a 24-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

Verdict: TSPOLAFS is one of those books you pick up with expectations already formed. When I began reading it, I had prepared myself for a cutesy, feel-good love story (Just look at that title!). I wasn't expecting to form this connection with the book- one that made me cry, laugh, and fall in love.... This is a story to treasure. It's a book you want sitting on your shelf so that you can experience the magic again and again, whenever you feel like it. I finished this book in a couple of hours and it felt like like it had lasted a lifetime. This book is about destiny, chance, forgiveness, and love. It's filled with gut-wrenching emotions, pretty dresses, ariplanes, and a cute british boy named Oliver. The story is a whole new level of awesome. And I can't explain any of it without giving something critical away, but I can tell you this: I absolutely love and recommend this book and there is a good statiscial probability that you will too! <3

Review for Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

Title: Pandemonium
Author: Lauren Oliver
Series: Delirium, #2
Publisher: HarperCollins
Publication Date: February 28, 2012

Synopsis: I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school,
push,
push,
push,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame.

Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times bestseller, Delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite.

Verdict: "Oh. My God." These were the only words I could utter after reading Pandemonium. Then I tried to gather my thoughts, so I put the book down and began to pace. But it wasn't long before I was returning to the book and re-reading the last page. And still, the only words running through my head were, "Oh. My. God." And that's when I began to panic, because I would have to wait until 2013 to get the final installment. Then I became angry. How could Lauren Oliver do this to me? She has just wrenched my heart out of my chest and made me eat it. And do you want to know what the worst part is? I liked it. Finally, I just accepted what had happened and decided to write my review. Although what this is really going to be, is a paragraph full of fangirling and twisting emotions. You see, you might have noticed something about the process I went though after finishing this book. It was the grieving process- and it was real. First there was the shock, then the panic, next came anger, and finally acceptance. And all of this happened within ten minutes. I read a quote once that said:

"What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him [or her] up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though."
-J.D. Salinger

That is exactly how I felt. Like I could have just called Lauren Oliver up and gotten her to spill the secrets for the next book or we could have just chatted about Delirium and Pandemonium like old pals. But I have not had the pleasure of meeting Lauren..... yet. But if when I do meet her, it will be when I'm armed with all of her books, a pen, and a camera to immortalize the moment forever. But moving on.... back to the book. If you could actually call it a book. Because to me, it was so much more than that. I can't even really explain it. But Delirium is my #1 top favorite series ever. Because, honestly? Who could compete with that! Because these books are ahhhh-mazing and I am so emotionally invested in the series. If you have read this far then you have probably realized that I can't even write a real review. All I can tell you is that I LOVE this series and if you haven't read them yet, then you need to get to it. Like, right now! And if you have already read Delirium then you really need to read Pandemonium because...... just wow. Although, now that I'm thinking about it, maybe you shouldn't read Pandemonium until closer to the release date of Requiem because (trust me!) once you finish this book you are going to be dying to read the next one, just like I am right now....... but you can always just go ahead and read it so that we can suffer together! :P

TGIF (6)

TGIF is a weekly feature hosted by GReads! that has a different question each week.

This Friday's Question: Love Stories: What are some of your favorite fictional love stories?

Claire and Shane from The Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine

This couple inspires me! They love each other so much and I love seeing their relationship grow as the series continues!  ♥

Lena and Alex from Delirium by Lauren Oliver

These two people loved each other in a society where love was considered a disease. That's powerful stuff! ♥

Dez and Reese from Destiny's Fire by Trisha Wolfe

Dez thought she was the only one of her kind...... and then she met Reese. This boy is hotness personified, but he's also a sweetie!  ♥

Katy and Daemon from Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I love this couple for not falling in love at first sight, and for letting their relationship build! And I love Daemon for making me realize that I've been wrong for imagining aliens as looking like creatures from E.T. when in actuality they are smoking hot male specimens with glowing green eyes!  ♥

Clara and Tucker from Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

These two are so awesome an explanation is not needed.  ♥

Ashton and Beau from The Vincent Boys by Abbi Glines

These two were meant to be together and their love gives me actual butterflies!  ♥

Aura and Zachary from the Shade series by Jeri-Smith Ready

Aura is kick-butt awesome and Zachary is from Scotland and sometimes wears a kilt. What more is there to say?  ♥

Rose and Dimitri from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead

These two were made for each other and it was about time they got together! ♥

If this list was accurate, it wouldn't end here. But then it would consist of hundreds of books and take you me all day to complete. So I figured that this is a pretty good stopping place.  :P

Review: Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley

Title: Graffiti Moon
Author: Cath Crowley
Publisher: Knopf Books
Publication Date: February 14, 2012

Synopsis: Senior year is over, and Lucy has the perfect way to celebrate: tonight, she's going to find Shadow, the mysterious graffiti artist whose work appears all over the city. He's out there somewhere—spraying color, spraying birds and blue sky on the night—and Lucy knows a guy who paints like Shadow is someone she could fall for. Really fall for. Instead, Lucy's stuck at a party with Ed, the guy she's managed to avoid since the most awkward date of her life. But when Ed tells her he knows where to find Shadow, they're suddenly on an all-night search around the city. And what Lucy can't see is the one thing that's right before her eyes.

Verdict: Awwwwwww........... Graffiti Moon is ahhhh-mazing! When I read the premise, I thought to myself, "Well this should be a cute story!" And it was cute- it was freakin' adorable! But it was more than that too- it was a story that warms the heart and puts butterflies in your stomach. It also addresses serious issues and has a realistic plot. The story is told from the alternating view points of Lucy and Ed. Lucy is a glass-blower and absolutely obsessed with finding Shadow, a graffiti artist that paints gorgeous things on the sides of buildings. Nobody really knows who he is- they just see the work he and his partner in crime, Poet, leave behind on the walls. Lucy's best friend is Jazz, a psychic. Ed is an absolute sweetie, but he's dirt-poor and has dropped out of school to get a job so he can help his mom pay rent. Ed's best friend is Leo. The characters were all awesome! And the story was just *sigh*. I can't even really explain it, but Cath Crowley- I applaud you, because I am now officially WAY more interested in art than I was before I started reading this masterpiece, and it takes skill to reach out to a person through a book and change them in any way! (Once I finish this review, I'm off to Google some graffiti art! :P) I've got to be really honest with you: I wouldn't mind having more Shadow a sequel, so ya know...... *hint-hint*. There is really nothing more I can say without giving away anything spoilery. (<--- Look, I invented a word.) But I can tell you this: I absolutely loved every page of this book and I cannot recommend it enough. So, you need to go out and get your very own copy (the cover is gorgeous!) and read it. Trust me- you don't want to miss this! <3

First Date by Krista McGee

Synopsis: Addy Davidson is the last girl in the country who wants to be on the new reality TV show to win a date to prom with the President's son. She's focused on her schoolwork so she can get a scholarship to an Ivy League college, uncomfortable in the spotlight, never been on a date, and didn't even audition for it.

But she got selected anyway.

So she does her best to get eliminated on the very first show... right before she realizes that the President's son is possibly the most attractive guy she has ever seen in person, surprisingly nice, and seemingly unimpressed by the 99 other girls who are throwing themselves at him.

Addy's totally out of her comfort zone-but that may be right where God can show her the most about who she is . . . and who she was meant to be.

Project Tell Taylor!

Michelle Madow's debut novel Remembrance was inspired by Taylor Swift's "Love Story" music video. She talked all about it in a blog entry a few months ago, discussing how Remembrance was inspired by Taylor Swift's "Love Story" music video. She even wrote a letter to Taylor Swift and sent it to her, along with a signed book!

It's been a few months now, and she has yet to hear back from Taylor that she received the letter and book. She really wants to tell Taylor about how inspiring she and her music have been to her, but since Taylor Swift is an international superstar, she’s a little hard to reach. This is where YOUR help comes into play! Michelle is giving away the biggest prize pack she's offered yet, and the ways to enter to win are by telling Taylor Swift about Remembrance.

The Goal: Get Taylor Swift to Tweet about Remembrance!
