Blog Tour: V is for Virgin by Kelly Oram (Author Interview + Giveaway)

To to see the other blogs participating in the tour go HERE.
Title: V is for Virgin
Author: Kelly Oram
Publisher: Bluefields
Publication Date: December 11, 2012

Synopsis: When Val Jensen gets dumped for her decision to stay a virgin until marriage, the nasty breakup goes viral on YouTube, making her the latest internet sensation.

After days of ridicule from her peers, Val starts a school-wide campaign to rally support for her cause. She meant to make a statement, but she never dreamed the entire nation would get caught up in the controversy.

As if becoming nationally recognized as “Virgin Val” isn’t enough, Val’s already hectic life starts to spin wildly out of control when bad boy Kyle Hamilton, lead singer for the hit rock band Tralse, decides to take her abstinence as a personal challenge.

How can a girl stay true to herself when this year’s Sexiest Man Alive is doing everything in his power to win her over?

About the Author: Kelly Oram wrote her first novel at age fifteen–a fan fiction about her favorite music group, The Backstreet Boys, for which family and friends still tease her. She's obsessed with reading, talks way too much, and loves to eat frosting by the spoonful. She lives outside of Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and four children.

Author Interview:

1. Describe V is for Virgin as a tweet  (140 characters or less)!
Girl determined to stay virgin until married. Obnoxious rock star determined to change her mind. Chaos and romance ensue...

2. If you could re-title V is for Virgin what would you call it and why?
I have absolutely no idea! I would cry if I had to change the title. I’ve never had a title fit a book better than this one.

3. What inspired you to start writing?
I was an insomniac daydreamer as a kid. I used to write down my ideas in my journal when I couldn’t sleep. By 15 I’d written my first novel.

4. What kind of research, if any, did you do for V is for Virgin?
I didn’t really need to do research for V. I drew on a lot of personal experience. I am very familiar with waiting until marriage, having to stand up from my beliefs, being a music junkie, and the local Los Angeles music scene. (I’ve even met several famous musicians though, sadly, none of them ever fell in love with me.)

5. Do you have a specific place where you write?
HA! I WISH! I have four small children, one of whom still wakes up to nurse at least twice a night. I write whenever I get the chance, and never where I would like to write. Which would be the library or a quiet cafĂ©—somewhere where my kids can’t bother me, the soda is readily available and the air conditioning is too cool to fall asleep in.

This or That...

Ebook or Real book?
Ebook! (This surprises me too. I held out for a long time but have recently become addicted to my Kindle.)

Twitter or Facebook?
Twitter.

Chocolate or Vanilla?
Vanilla.

Past or Future?
Future.

And just for fun- What is the strangest thing on your desk right now?
Two binkies and a handful of Halo Mega Bloks figurines.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog!

Cover Reveal: Dangerous by Suzannah Daniels

Title: Dangerous
Author: Suzannah Daniels
Publication Date: February 10, 2013

Synopsis: Stone Hamilton had never known fear...until the accident. Since then, his life has spiraled out of control. He's been kicked out of private school, deemed a disappointment by his father, and forced to endure his own guilt, anger, and grief. The last thing he wants is a relationship with someone who will have expectations of him. But once he's enticed by the shimmering pink lips of the oh-so-popular, academically-excelling, straitlaced hottie from his new school, he knows he's in trouble.

Seventeen-year-old Dara Golding has one goal for the summer: make enough money to buy a car, so that she can drive to school her senior year. After starting a new job, she realizes that she'll be working with the brooding, motorcycle-riding, bad boy who started attending Quail Mountain High last year. With his less than stellar reputation, he's everything she's afraid of...and that makes him dangerous.

Their undeniable attraction has Stone struggling with his inner demons. As Dara slowly allows Stone to claim her heart, a little white lie to cover an ugly truth could determine whether she's his savior or the final straw that will break his sanity.

About the Author: Suzannah Daniels has had an affinity for words for as long as she can remember. She grew up in North Georgia with four brothers, so she learned at an early age to admire snakes and motorcycles. When she wasn't pestering her brothers, she could usually be found reading or writing. She has an Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, but her passion is writing. She is the author of Viking's Embrace, a historical romance, and Ghostly Encounter, Book One of her Ghostly series (young adult paranormal romance). Currently, she lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee with her husband and her teenage daughter. Her son lives nearby. The family pets include a Lab mix, a Basset Hound, a Shih Tzu, and a sweet, little kitty.

Cover Reveal: Lennon's Jinx by Chris Myers

Title: Lennon's Jinx
Author: Chris Myers
Publication Date: January 15, 2012

Synopsis: Sometimes, we don’t get to choose who we fall for.

Lennon spends most of his time raising his little sister Currie while trying to skate through his senior year of high school. He prefers groupies with no-strings attached but finds himself strangely attracted to Jinx, the straight-A student in his choir. Lennon’s curiosity overrules his good sense as he tries to peel away the layers to discover the reason for Jinx’s skittishness.

Jinx conceals the black truth about herself from her friends. She won’t admit to them that she screwed up big time, losing her first love and what she once held most precious.

When Lennon’s band holds auditions to replace their keyboard player, Jinx comes to tryout and almost leaves after seeing Lennon. Despite the fact she despises him, she joins the band to nurture her love of music that will hopefully ease the guilt gnawing away at her.

Like the rest of his band mates, Jinx soon witnesses Lennon battling his infamous father for the custody of Currie. While confronting his pent-up anger at his dad, Lennon exposes vulnerabilities he had no intention of letting any girl ever see, especially Jinx. Their reckless pasts may bring them together or further complicate their already messy lives.

About the Author: Chris Myers suffers from an overactive imagination. In second grade, Sister Bernice produced Chris's first play about pumpkins mauling and eating children. Apparently, the nuns didn’t catch the underlying meaning. This instantly raised Chris to stardom amongst her peers for the several days off from schoolwork while in production. She spent her high school years writing torch songs for fantasy guys then moved onto writing thrillers and young adult. Chris lives in Colorado with her daughter, her better half, and BeBe, a rambunctious Bichon.

Synopsis: When your mind is a weapon, freedom comes at a price.
Four months have passed since Kira left home to join Julian’s Jacker Freedom Alliance, but the hole in her heart still whistles empty where her boyfriend Raf used to be. She fills it with weapons training, JFA patrols, and an obsessive hunt for FBI agent Kestrel, ignoring Julian’s worries about her safety and repeated attempts to recruit her for his revolutionary chat-casts. When anti-jacker politician Vellus surrounds Jackertown with the National Guard, Kira discovers there’s more to Julian’s concerns than she knew, but she’s forced to take on a mission that neither want and that might be her last: assassinating Senator Vellus before he can snuff out Julian’s revolution and the jackers she’s come to love.
All of the Mindjack stories are available on Amazon, Barnes&Noble, Kobo, and iTunes
(Note: Free Souls is not yet available on Kobo or iTunes)
Early Praise for Free Souls

“Quinn paints a picture of a not-too-distant America where politicians inflame the hatred of one section of the populace for another—all for their own gain—and you worry that her world is not so far off from our own.”
Dianne Salerni, author of We Hear the Dead, The Caged Graves, and the forthcoming The Eighth Day
"Free Souls starts with a bang and doesn't let up. Like a mash-up of all your favorite science-fiction adventures from Star Wars to The Legend of Korra, it blends nonstop action, nail-biting escapes, and great romance. I absolutely loved it! A great series conclusion—a must-read."
Leigh Talbert Moore, author of Rouge and The Truth About Faking
“Susan did it again. Free Souls was WOW! I expected Kira to step up to her role as heroine but not like this. Surprises kept coming until the very end which tied up more loose ends than I knew existed. Warning: Don't start reading until you have time to finish. I didn't want to put Free Souls down for a second. It's that kind of book.”
Sher A. Hart, Goodreads Review

Book Spotlight: The Truth Behind the Empty Pen by Brittany Dukes (Author Interview)

Title: The Truth Behind the Empty Pen
Author: Brittany Dukes
Publisher: Tate Publishing
Publication Date: December 11, 2012

Synopsis: When your life is in turmoil, and tragedy surrounds you, where do you turn? For Brittany Dukes, she turned to her paper and pen. The only thing left, after the paper was full and the pen was empty, was truth.

About the Author: Dukes is 19 years old and was born and raised in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. She is a youth activist, musician, singer, and leader among her peers. She was inspired to begin writing as she faced hard times at a young age. Her escape became prayer, music, and writing poetry. She has been writing with a passion ever since.

Interview:

First off, I'd like to thank you for joining me on the blog today!

1. Describe The Truth Behind the Empty Pen as a tweet  (140 characters or less)!
The book is a collection of poems inspired by both struggles and successes in life thus far for myself along with others.

2. If you could re-title The Truth Behind the Empty Pen what would you call it and why?
I’ve never considered another title, and as I think now, I don’t remember where I came up with the title. Maybe something like  “Revealing the Hidden Truth”

3. What inspired you to start writing poetry?
Struggles. At a young age I had certain struggles and I began writing and it was simplistic writing at first and then it became deeper and deeper until the point that my writing was so strong that average minds couldn’t understand.

4. Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
The overall message is just that you can overcome any obstacle in life and that you can accomplish anything that you set your mind to. Life is about taking chances and risks, and even though you may fall sometimes, there’s a lesson in every bruise and scar that life may give you.

5. What was the hardest part of writing your book?
The wait. Lol. The entire collection has been done for a long time now. It was just the nine month production period with my publishing company, Tate Publishing. They are a great team and have helped me out tremendously. I just was soo anxious about the release. Since last November, when I signed my contract, I had been waiting to hold a book in my hands.

6. Do you have a specific place where you write?
Not really. Wherever I feel inspired. I do have a preference of pens though. Lol. I prefer to write with blue papermate pens.

7. What are you reading right now?
Currently I am studying some classical music scoring from several books.

This or That...
Ebook or Real book?
Real Book for sure.

Twitter or Facebook?
Is both an option lol. I would have to say…..Twitterbook..jk Facebook

Chocolate or Vanilla?
Vanilla

Past or Future?
Future

And just for fun- What is the strangest thing on your desk right now?
A “PIMP” cup that I received as my going away to college gift, and it’s currently filled with pens and my business cards.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog!
